This phenomenal necklace does showcase some of the same details that can be found in other garnet necklaces of this era- the garnet-encrusted box clasp, the inclusion of \"stems\" of garnets dangling from the center components- but it also has a few details that make it very special. Unlike nearly all other Bohemian garnet jewelry from this time period (about 1880-1900), which almost always features closed back settings for all of the sparkling rose cut and cabochon cut stones, this necklace has open back settings for the pear shaped and larger round stones of the three center flowers. The bright cherry-red pop of the smaller garnets in closed back settings, combined with the deep wine red sparkle of the larger stones in open back settings, makes for a beautiful and elegant juxtaposition. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis necklace has the option of having extra, matching antique Bohemian garnet links added to extend its length (up to 2\"). These links are not original to the necklace, but instead, have been rescued from a damaged garnet necklace from the same time period, and are a perfect match in color, cut, and setting style. The extension links will be added to the ends of the necklace, as shown, unless otherwise requested. Please see the last photo, which shows what a 1 inch extension would look like (a 2 inch extension would have 4 extra links on either side of the clasp). \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis necklace is in excellent condition. It measures 15\" long (without additional extension links), with an additional 1.75\" of length to the bottom of the center drop. Every garnet is present and intact, with no chips or damage to any of the stones. The box clasp is secure.
