There seems to have been no shortage of textures available in coral necklaces during the Victorian era, from branches to "dogbone" hourglass shapes, to the lovely graduated "pickets and berries" style seen here. This style was not only made of coral, as seen here, but was often seen in mother of pearl (usually with much larger "pickets"), or a mother of pearl and coral combination.
The necklace measures 16" long, with the longest "picket" measuring 0.75". It has been professionally restrung on silk cord, retaining its original brass knot covers and clasp. It is in excellent condition, with an incredible, even, deep orange-red color and no drying out or damage to the beads.
