Festoon necklaces were a major trend during the Edwardian era, when dress fabrics became lighter and frothier. This dainty example is as light as air, made of draped chains holding a central scroll motif, adorned with a Mediterranean coral cabochon and beautifully irregular natural river pearls (now often referred to as "dogtooth" pearls, though this is not what they would have been called during the early 1900s).
The necklace measures 16" long, and is made of a combination of gold fill and gilt silver. The pearls are natural, wild harvested river pearls, not cultured.
