While we may think of the Edwardian era as particularly stuffy, there were many whimsical and interesting trends, especially in the world of jewelry. One of the most wonderful is the sword shaped jabot pin- initially intended to pin fancy lace jabots to blouses and dresses, it eventually evolved into a versatile piece of jewelry that could adorn anything from a dress bodice to a hat. Here is another wonderfully ornate example of this functional and dramatic piece of jewelry, fashioned to look like a sword or fencing rapier with an elaborate pommel/handle.
Pin measures 4.5" long. It is in excellent condition. I have cleaned but not polished this pin, and will polish by request. It is hallmarked sterling on its back, and has its original safety chain.
