Bohemian garnets were exceptionally popular during the Victorian era, often being set into large pins such as this one. Fashioned into the shape of a regal starburst, and set with deep red, table cut garnets, this pin would have been incredibly on-trend. Like many larger pins of its time, it can also be worn as a pendant. Many Bohemian garnet pieces were set into base metals, but this pin is made out of gilded silver, making it a luxurious example of this style of pin.
