Antique Victorian Carved Mediterranean Coral Acorn, Roses and Leaves Brooch with Pendant

Intricately carved coral brooches never cease to thrill me. Almost definitely carved in the Torre del Greco region, outside of Naples, Italy, this beautiful, lush brooch features roses, rose leaves with impossibly detailed serrated edges, and plump acorns. The center of the brooch is adorned with one partially bloomed rose. There is a small, removable pendant hanging from the brooch, in the form of a spray of buds, leaves, and acorns. The base of the brooch is composed of a substantial coral branch. The gold wires and pin have been tested as approximately 12k.

This brooch is in very good condition. There is one missing element on the pendant portion, likely a leaf or rosebud. There are a few small, old repairs to the wire armature, as seen in the last photo, that appear to have been done with a lead-based solder. I have left the repairs intact, as it is more destructive to attempt to remove the lead solder than to leave it as is. These repairs are only visible when looking at the back of the brooch, and are not visible when it is being worn. 

Brooch measures 2" across and 1.5" tall, with the pendant portion measuring 1.25" long.
