Antique Victorian Double Heart Earrings

Puffy heart earrings may have been a trend during the 1980s and 1990s, but these earrings prove that the idea goes back at least a century more! Dating to the late Victorian era, these charming and playful earrings showcase what innovations in industry and technology brought to the jewelry world. Made of thin, incredibly detailed sheets of 10k gold, soldered together to create hollow forms that look fairly substantial, they are a testament to the ability to take a small amount of gold and make it look like quite a bit more. Made in two sections, with the lower double heart pendants swinging from a textured teardrop shaped loop, they are a wonderful example of late Victorian sentimental jewelry. The earrings are unmarked but test as 10k gold. 

The earrings are in very good condition for their age, with a very small dent in the center of one of the hearts, and a (likely contemporary to the earrings) repair to one of the top loops. The hooks are not original, but also test as 10k gold and were likely added to the earrings not long after they were made, as they are from the same time period. Earrings measure 2" from top of hook to bottom.
