These luminous pearl earrings date back to a time before cultured pearls were possible- every pearl had to be harvested, by hand, and at great danger, by pearl divers. Pearls were an undeniable marker of luxury, and often, people could not afford more than the tiniest seed pearls. These incredible late Victorian earrings are set with luminous, generously sized natural pearls with an ethereal iridescence. Surrounded by fine filigree borders and details in warm and rosy 10k gold, they are also convertible- the pendants can be removed so that the single pearl tops can be worn on their own. These earrings show an undeniable Iberian influence, and may have been made in Spain, Portugal, Southern Italy, or Mexico.
These earrings are in excellent condition, and measure 2" from top of hook to bottom of pendant.
