Yet another incredible example of an 1880s silver buckle bracelet, with a profusion of wonderful Victorian era details. Engraved with an ivy leaf pattern (symbolizing fidelity and commitment), and adorned with a granulation pattern around the border in a nod to Etruscan Revival style, this bracelet dates to 1887 and is a fantastic example of the height of the buckle bracelet trend. Buckle bracelets were worn as symbols of love and commitment, but also statements of strength.
This bracelet measures 1.25" wide. It is an oval shape, and is 2.5" across its widest point. The bracelet is in excellent condition, with a secure clasp and minor wear appropriate for its age. It is fully hallmarked, with British stamps for sterling silver (a lion), the assay city stamp for Birmingham, a date letter stamp dating it to 1887, and the maker's mark- J. Bs (Jackson Brothers)
