In this dainty ring fit for an ice princess, the center stone is remarkably rare and special- a Russian amethyst from 1844, cut with a fancy star facet pattern. Dating to a time when amethysts were considered as rare and valuable as diamonds, before the discovery of large amethyst deposits in Brazil in the late 1800s, this stone was highly prized when it was first cut and set. Though Russian amethysts are generally associated with a deeper purple color, this pale lavender is especially sought after for its diamond-like fire.
